Your information and how Tom Solar uses it
Tom Solar uses information submitted through this website to respond to enquiries, perform an initial property check and discuss solar design options where requested. Installer introductions are arranged only after the proposed installer has been identified and you have given separate permission to share your details.
Tom Solar is operated by Tom Kinnaird, an independent solar consultant based in Fife.
Information we may collect
Depending on how you use the website or which contact option you request, this may include:
- your name;
- email address and telephone number;
- property address and postcode;
- property location information you confirm using the Find My House tool;
- roof or property information;
- electricity consumption and electricity-cost information;
- information about electric vehicles, heat pumps or other household energy use;
- photographs, bills, quotations or other files you choose to provide;
- your request for a discussion about solar options and any separate permission for an identified installer introduction.
How your information is used
Information you provide may be used to:
- respond to your enquiry;
- identify and assess the property you have asked Tom Solar to consider;
- carry out an initial solar feasibility check;
- respond to your questions about the property check;
- arrange an introduction to an identified installer only after obtaining your separate permission;
- keep appropriate records of your enquiry and consent.
Solar discussions and installer introductions
The roof-check form lets you ask Tom to discuss solar options and help obtain an installation quotation. Selecting this option requests contact from Tom; it does not authorise disclosure to an installer.
Before an introduction, Tom will identify the proposed installer, explain which information would be shared and ask for your separate permission. You can decline an introduction and still receive your initial roof check.
Submitting the form is not a contract to buy solar and creates no obligation to accept an appointment or quotation.
If an installer arrangement involves a referral fee or commission payable to Tom, this will be explained before you decide whether to proceed.
Sharing your information
Tom Solar does not sell or distribute homeowner contact information simply because someone has made an enquiry.
Information may be shared with an identified installer only after your separate permission has been obtained, with service providers required to process information on Tom Solar’s behalf, or where disclosure is required by law.
Your choices
You can use the Solar Q&A and Scotland guide without submitting personal information. A property enquiry and quotation request is optional.
Your rights
You may have rights over personal information held about you, including rights to request access, correction or deletion of information, subject to applicable legal requirements.
You may also ask Tom Solar to stop using your information for purposes you have previously agreed to where applicable.
